Description
A Numol black transfer printed stoneware jar that reads “Tonic & Nervine, Lecithin Food, NUMOL Body Builder, Digestive & Appetising for Children & Adults”. No makers mark, No. 3 marked to the base.
These jars came in various sizes and with varying designs. Stoneware jars were in common use during late Victorian times and right through to the 1930s. Once the contents were consumed, the jars were simply thrown into the local rubbish tip. This jar was dug up during an excavation.
