A Victorian ironstone pot lid advertising S. Maw & Son’s White Rose Paste, one of the London chemists’ gentler tooth‑cleaning preparations. Produced in the late 19th century, these lids were decorated with crisp black transfer printing and sold through pharmacies across Britain. The design typically features bold lettering and a neat border, promoting a paste intended to freshen the breath and clean the teeth. Today, White Rose Paste lids are collected for their elegant typography and as attractive examples of Victorian chemist advertising.
