The Crown Lynn Swan is one of New Zealand’s most recognisable ceramic forms, produced from the mid‑20th century and sold in a range of sizes and glazes. Modelled with smooth, flowing lines and a gently arched neck, the swan was designed as a decorative centrepiece that could be used as a vase, planter, or simply as an ornamental display item.
Each example was slip‑cast and hand‑finished at the Crown Lynn factory in Auckland, giving the pieces subtle variations in glaze tone and surface texture. The swans became a staple of Crown Lynn’s domestic ware, widely gifted and proudly displayed in New Zealand homes, and today they remain highly collectable as icons of local ceramic design.
