Description
Description
A Calverts Carbolic Toothpaste pot lid & base costing sixpence.
A late‑19th‑century toothpaste pot lid for Calvert’s Carbolic Toothpaste, produced for the Manchester chemists known for their carbolic‑based disinfectant and personal‑care preparations. Printed in bold black transfer on ironstone, these lids advertised Calvert’s antiseptic toothpaste, promoted at the time for keeping the mouth “sweet and clean.” The strong typography and circular border are typical of Victorian chemist ware, making this an appealing piece of period advertising and a classic example of early branded packaging.
