A monogrammed, pair of sterling silver tongs, Sheffield, 1918, by James Dixon & Sons Limited. James Dixon & Smith was founded in 1806 by James Dixon & Thomas Smith. In 1835 Dixon’s son joined the company and the name was changed to James Dixon & Sons. The firm went on to win many awards at the Great Exhibition in 1851.
