This is a real photo postcard showing Hastings St Napier after a fire broke out after the 1931 earthquake. Photo was taken by A.B. Hurst. The Hawke’s Bay earthquake killed 256 people and injured thousands. Napier was particularly bad as a fire broke out after the earthquake that devastated much of the town area.
