A pretty Bursley ware embossed plate by Charlotte Rhead. In a floral design with gold trim and a gold border on a mottled background. Charlotte Rhead was born on 19th October 1885 in Burslem, Stoke on Trent. Charlotte went on to become one of the “big three” British female art deco pottery designers, along side Clarice Cliff and Susie Cooper. Charlotte’s signature style was the use of tube lining in her works, which went on to be highly popular during the art deco period. This plate includes a raised decoration of floral design depicting carnations.
