Description
A delightful Beswick figurine of “Dinkum Platypus” One of David Hand’s characters from his cartoon series Animaland.
A delightful example from David Hand’s Animaland series for Beswick, Dinkum the Platypus captures the playful, storybook charm that made these mid‑century characters so appealing. Modelled with Hand’s trademark animation‑influenced styling, the platypus has a rounded, friendly form, expressive eyes, and a softly curved bill that gives the figure real personality.
Finished in warm hand‑painted tones, the piece shows the careful detailing typical of Beswick’s 1950s output, while the sculpt itself reflects Hand’s background in character design and film animation. Animaland figures have become increasingly sought after, and Dinkum is one of the more endearing models in the range.
A lovely addition for collectors of Beswick animals, David Hand’s work, or mid‑century character ceramics.
